La copyright qui tue (la recherche)

Le copyright est une gêne pour l’avancée de la recherche et de l’enseignement en sciences humaines et sociales. Ce n’est pas moi qui le dit, mais le titre d’un rapport publié le 18 septembre par la British Academy. Rapport qui a l’avantage de rappeler quelques évidences trop souvent oubliées :

• "authors and producers of original creative material should
  understand that their interests in copyright are not necessarily
  identical with those of publishers and should not rely on publishers to
  protect them
• the law should be clarified -
  statutorily if necessary – to make clear that the use of copyright
  material in the normal course of scholarly research in universities and
  other public research institutions is covered by the exemptions from
  the copyright act. ( = la fameuse exception demandée pour l’enseignement et la recherche)
